Fever all through the night, with a bit of school on the side.

Oh holy bejeez. Talk about a goddamn roller coaster of events.

So I started classes this week. Monday I was feeling really pumped, got up early, turned on my space heater, hopped in the shower to get ready for my morning PE classes. Then suddenly the lights turn off. Ten seconds into my shower. I finish my shower in the dark, and upon getting out, discovered that the entire upper level of my apartment had no electricity.

Apparently my roommate had his space heater going, too, which explained why things had gone boom (figuratively) and then darkness had settled. But the problem was my roommate and I were reasonably sure the breaker box was in our OTHER roommate's room, which is locked, and she's practically never home (and wasn't home at the time). I left for my classes, and my roommate had a class a couple hours later. I figured he might, you know, get a hold of our other roommate so we could get this electricity thing squared away. But when I came home a couple hours later in between classes, no lights. I finally texted the other roommate to see if she knew about the outage. She didn't, but told me about a spare key. So viola! I was able to access the breaker box and after a couple tries (and a phone call to Mom to make sure I was doing it right since the first time showed no results) my radio alarm clock was blinking cheerily at me in glowing red numbers.

I got horrendously sick Monday night though, with the beginnings of a headache and general over exhaustion. I'd worked myself pretty hard that day, physically, and combined with not drinking enough water and lack of proper sleep, I was not in good shape. I spent that night at the bf's house, and when I woke up I felt nauseated and feverish. I managed to drive back to my apartment and before I left for my second day of classes I checked my temperature: 99.6. Oh joy. I felt like such crap yesterday. Tired, head throbbing, neck sore, chills, fever. I thought I might be getting the flu, so after my first class (I have a five hour break between classes on Tuesday and Thursday) I came home and slept for about three and a half hours. I think my fever spiked at around 101, and last night I was in such a bad space. Because I felt like shit, the first day of my Beginning Video class frustrated me to no end. Our teacher showed us videos from the 70s, which had lots of brightly colored flashing and changing lights. Head goes OW. So Tasia was quite the grumpy pants.

This was all compounded by the fact that I started freaking out about missing classes at the beginning of the quarter due to getting sick. I wasn't sure how long I'd feel like this, and with two PE classes... well, you can't really participate when your head is practicing its drumming techniques and your body wants to give out after walking up one flight of stairs. I sent emails to as many professors as I could to give them a heads up, and then went to bed.

This morning I slept in, skipped both PE classes, and woke up around 10am. I immediately could tell I felt loads better. I didn't feel feverish, and when I checked my temperature it was down to 98.5. I was able to go to my art class in the afternoon and buy most of my art supplies (which weigh a friggin ton; that was not fun to lug onto the bus. Luckily some kindly people asked me if I needed help).

With a wee bit of a rewind to New Years weekend, the bf and I went down to Monterey for two days and a night. It was absolutely amazing. I drove the way down (our directions were post-it noted on a book by Richard Bach), we checked into the Lodge we were staying at, then ventured out to explore. We walked over to Fisherman's Wharf, then to a more down-town-esque area to try and find some place to eat that wasn't so loaded with tourists. We found this little London pub that had fish and chips (which was our intent and purpose in this food-find challenge), which happened to be playing the Rose bowl game (so it was more like an American sports bar, but what're you gonna do). It was the best damn fish and chips I've ever had. Not at all greasy or fishy!

We went to the aquarium the next day, where we battled the swarms of little kids as best we could. I got to see my leafy sea dragons (love those soo much) and we managed to see the cuttlefish right as they were being fed. Now it's a running joke between us to have cuttlefish kisses. (Yay for sickeningly cute couple stuff!) All in all it was a great trip, especially as a last hurrah before I started classes.

Oh oh! And the classes I'm taking:
Weight training, hi/lo aerobics, intermediate drawing in black and white (the professor for this class is fucking awesome, there is just no other word for it), beginning painting (which has turned out to be an oil class), and beginning video.
